Wake-Up Call – Tourism numbers declining in 2025

Minister Indileni Daniel announced a decline in tourist arrivals to Namibia recorded in 2025, saying the decline is a wake-up call for the country to improve its tourist attraction strategies. The arrivals decreased to 1,217,108 arrivals in 2025 from 1,257,093 recorded in 2024, representing a 3.2% decline.

“While this marginal decrease may be viewed as statistically minor, we must treat it as a wake-up call and a clear signal to all of us to renew our focus and improve our competitiveness as a country to ensure that our value proposition continue to resonate with international travellers,” she said.

The Minister said this during the launch of the 2025 tourist arrivals statistics report on Thursday in Windhoek, where she mentioned that this report features new statistics on the visitations to our various national parks giving insights into the tourist preferred areas.
