Room Occupancy steadily rising

In May 2026, the room occupancy rate index increased again, for the 3rd consecutive month on a monthly basis. In particular, accommodation* establishments in northern and southern regions reported a stronger occupancy. In the central and coastal regions a negative trend has been observed. The overall occupancy rate in Namibia stood at 56.2 percent in May 2026.

The highest occupancy rate of 71.5 percent was reported by tented lodges, which is, however, significantly lower, by nearly 5 percentage points, than in May of the previous year. Traditionally, the lowest occupancy rate, with just over 40 percent, was reported by Guest Farms.
